FDI Spotlight: Could you elaborate on the milestones of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence?
Mr. Taveesak Srisuntisuk: Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence was incorporated in 2006 and in 2010 the company began expanding into neighboring countries. So far the results have been quite good and we have moved into the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar. Vietnam is a very interesting market and I foresee a massive growth potential for Hexagon there. The future looks bright for Thailand and with the new elections coming up this will further boost foreign investor confidence. Thailand is reaping the benefits from the formation of the AEC but there are still some challenges to overcome such as the language barrier.
Could you give the readers from Newsweek Magazine your outlook on the manufacturing sector here in Thailand?
Mr. Taveesak Srisuntisuk: The manufacturing sector is one of Thailand’s most important assets. The automotive industry is the largest player within the sector and plays a significant role in Thailand’s export. The automotive sector has a long life cycle when compared to electronics and therefore is more of an interest for us.
How do you enhance the quality of the products within Hexagon?
Mr. Taveesak Srisuntisuk: The key for enhancing the quality of our products is constant improvement of technology and R&D. For example, we have recently created 3D measuring machines that can confirm the dimensional accuracy of measurement readings to a higher degree. Hexagon has also acquired Q-DAS Software which is a company that helps us with manufacturing by calculating and analyzing all the parts that need to have the same dimensions.
Can you tell us about some of the partnerships you are involved in?
Mr. Taveesak Srisuntisuk: Hexagon is a publicly listed company and has its head office in Sweden; with 22 years of experience in Thailand we understand the market pretty well. We have created a lot of synergy together coming in with my own expertise of over 35 years I have brought Hexagon to the next level. Currently we are looking to expand our partnerships further to Vietnam.
We would like to hear your message of confidence of why our readers should invest in Thailand?
Mr. Taveesak Srisuntisuk: Thailand has always been the springboard of the region and people should capitalize on this. It has over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing sector with a specialty in automotive work. The quality of the people is a strong advantage as well but we need to add value on the production chain by bringing in more advanced technology. We are currently stimulating the learning process of young people in order to create a more knowledge based economy.
