Universitas Islam Syekh-Yusuf (UNIS) is a private university in Tangerang City, Banten province, Indonesia. Located just west of the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, Tangerang is well known for its factories and service industry.
Established on 14 April 1966, UNIS was the first university founded in Banten, pioneering higher education in the area. Named after Sheikh Yusuf, a 17th century scholar and Indonesian national hero, UNIS staff and students alike are proud of the university’s place in Indonesian history.

From local governments, to private companies and universities at home and abroad, UNIS has a strong history of collaboration. UNIS works with the local government and other institutions in order to develop the level of higher education available around the region.
Particularly impressive is the work that UNIS engineering students have done with the local Tangerang government to design and build houses for the less advantaged population. Having recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding, UNIS continues to work hard to improve the quality of globally oriented and competitive education available in Banten.
