Djuanda University of Bogor (UNIDA) is a private university in Bogor, Indonesia, founded by Yayasan Pusat Studi Pengemban Islam Indonesia foundation in 1987. Currently ranked 73rd out of 3,320 universities in Indonesia, UNIDA offers 18 undergraduate programs across 7 faculties, along with postgraduate study in Law, Public Administration, and Halal Food.
UNIDA’s vision is to increase the number of graduates in the Indonesian population and promote peace. Their motto is ‘Tauhadi Campus’- a college based on Islam and unity with Allah.
UNIDA is home to the only Faculty of Halal Food Science in Indonesia. Education and research focus on the processing of food products in line with the requirements of Halal. UNIDA works closely with Majelis Ulama, Indonesia’s Halal certification authority, to audit Halal standards nationwide. As the world’s most populous Muslim nation, Indonesia takes a leading role in developing Halal certification internationally, a process in which UNIDA are deeply involved.
Aside from Halal, flagship research includes government projects on issues in agriculture, environment, and combating poverty. Rector Dr. H. Martin Roestamy leads from the front with research in improving access to housing for low income individuals.
UNIDA hosts annual international conferences on social sciences (BICSS) and applied sciences (BICAS), exploring issues affecting the global population and environment in the face of modern development. With universities from Malaysia, Japan, and Finland in attendance, UNIDA’s goal for the future is to build on the successes of BICSS and BICAS to become a truly global university by 2020.
