The Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) is not only Africa’s biggest event space in terms of size, it is also one of the country’s true success stories, one that has only improved over the years.

Opened by former president Nelson Mandela in 1997 in the city of Durban, the Durban ICC offers the largest flat floor, column-free multi-purpose event space in Africa. Incorporating the Durban ICC Arena and Durban Exhibition Centre, the complex offers 112,000 m of flexible exhibition and meeting space.

As a versatile venue of enormous dimensions, flexible enough to meet any need, big or small, no matter how extraordinary, numerous events have been held at the venue and it is known for its ability to meet every requirement an international convention, exhibition, sporting event, concert or any special occasion has.

By hosting major international events, the Durban ICC attracts thousands of foreign delegates to the city each year. Apart from the positive economic impact which these visitors have on Durban while there, many of them return as tourists in future years with their families and friends. These visitors return to their home countries and spread the word about Durban as a vibrant city, in touch with its African authenticity and the genuine friendliness of its people.

The Durban ICC has established itself as a world class convention centre, and has been honoured with several international awards and accolades. It has been voted “Africa’s Leading Meeting and Conference Centre” at the World Travel Awards an astonishing 15 times in 16 years.

Recognised as “Africa’s leading convention centre”, service excellence is the heart-beat of the Durban ICC team, expressed through its Gold Status certification from the international AIPC Quality Standards Programme – the highest international achievement a convention centre can receive for service levels and quality of facilities.
